A Capital Initiative grant to the Greenbelt Conservancy helped bring the Staten Island community a gateway to its natural history and a vantage point to appreciate Staten Island’s unique natural resources.

The new 5,440 square foot Greenbelt Nature Center houses the Richmond County Savings Foundation Exhibits on urban ecology and wildlife, conservation, geology and native plants. The state-of-the-art technology offers touch screen monitors, terrain-model projection demonstrations, dioramas, models and audio programs offering visitors self-guided, hands-on learning experiences.
